A German court in Bochum has sentenced Ante Sapina to a term of five and a half years for match fixing.

The Croatian gambling boss admitted fixing twenty matches between 2008 and 2009, including World Cup qualifiers and the Europa League. It is thought that Sapina earned around 2.3 million euros from his illegal activities.

His Croatian accomplices were given prison sentences of five and a half and one and a half years for their involvement.
