Sábado 19 de Diciembre de 2009 16:46

British bookmaker office William Hill intends to get established in India, and is following Bwin and Betfair in this. This is the result of a recent made decision by the Indian government, to hand out licenses for online betting sites. India has 1.2 billion habitants, a fast growing and prospering economy and like in so many Asian countries, a huge interest in European football competitions. Besides that, India is considered to be an interesting market regarding online casino’s and poker rooms for these online bookmakers.

The first licenses that allow offering of online gambling games, will be provided through the Indian province of Sikkim. Three companies are eligible for a limited number of licenses, provided that these obtained licenses in Sikkim will be valid throughout the whole country. One of the conditions is that applicants, who wish to establish an office in India, should have a partner in the country of origin.

In William Hill’s case, it’s said that they having conversations with Global Torrent International, according to the British newspaper "The Independent". As far as Betfair goes, a co-operation with Agilisys Managed Services could be at hand.

Other suppliers of online gaming are keeping away from the limelight, until licenses will definitively be handed out to these earlier mentioned bookmakers. There are still a few uncertainties remaining, when it comes to the demands of the Sikkim province and the employment consequences. It may be obvious that they could be dealing with a huge market opportunity.
